Today's Fabric for Tomorrow's World

Innovation has driven Twitchell® Corporation for almost a century and continues today.  Since it’s beginning in 1922, the Twitchell name has represented quality and social responsibility in yarns and fabrics across a multitude of industries. Now Twitchell continues that trend with Earthtex® Brand fabrics.

We understand a changing global environment demands a new world of environmentally friendly textiles and textile applications - - fabrics that embrace the wellness of our planet, our future, and the future of all mankind. Twitchell Corporation pioneers the globe with new yarns, fabrics and processes in manufacturing to meet tomorrow's accelerating need for sustainability and eco-effectiveness.

A Commitment to Eco-Effective Textiles

Supporting sustainable environmental practices with Earthtex is not only a product design goal, but a company competency. Twitchell’s Earthtex is a legitimate fabric alternative in an eco-friendly format.

Earthtex represents a continued company commitment to materials perpetually circulated in closed loops, maximizing material value without damaging ecosystems. Twitchell is transferring virtually all of the power used to produce Earthtex fabrics to alternate power sources through solar power, hydro power, green power, or renewable energy credits. Our water policy and procedures utilize a closed loop cooling system that is constantly recycling water supply to our machinery instead of utilizing an open loop system requiring use of additional water.

Twitchell Corporation is committed to Cradle to CradleSM design and has incorporated C2CSM principles in our manufacturing processes. Each of the components used in Earthtex is evaluated by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) and broken down to determine the effect on human health ... and its effect on the environment.  Only after each component is assessed and passes through analysis is the specific component added to the Earthtex formulation.

The Cradle to Cradle design strategy is to encourage all to generate ecological, social, and economic value by embracing and applying true eco-effective manufacturing. And it's our commitment to lead the world in the development of eco-effective textiles.

A Material Health Certificate is awarded to products that meet the Material Health requirements of the multi-attribute Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM Product Standard. The certificate is valid for two years. Twitchell Technical Products, LLC has published a Material Health Certificate at the Bronze level for Earthtex, which can be seen here.

Cradle to CradleSM and C2CSM are service marks of MBDC.
