Anti-microbial and Cleaning Information for Textilene®

7/20/2020

In a post COVID-19 era, cleaning and safety should be a top priority. With Textilene®, our fabrics are chemical resistant and anti-microbial so they stand up to heavy use and a variety of conditions; they have excellent abrasion, tear, fade and stain resistance.

Learn more about Textilene’s® uses and care below:

Mildew/Bacteria Resistance

  • Inherent biocides are used to make our products mildew resistant.
  • All of our fabrics are also bacteria resistant.
  • The biocides will not wipe or wear off they are part of the fabric.

Chemical Resistant/Cleaning

  • Textilene® is easy to clean. Most stains will just wipe off. For tough stains, our fabrics may be cleaned with bleach.
  • Hospital cleaners such as VitalOxide and Hydrogen Peroxide-based cleaners are useful for Textilene® fabrics.
  • Textilene® fabric is woven from polyvinyl chloride-coated polyester core yarns. Textilene® with its proprietary polyvinyl coating, provides excellent abrasion, tear, fade, soil, and chemical resistance. This exceptional coating has been formulated to provide maximum chemical resistance by prudently selecting optimal plasticizers, stabilizers, and color additives.
  • Textilene® fabric is resistant to a wide range of inorganic acids and alkalis. It resists many corrosive inorganic chemicals. The polyvinyl chloride coating provides excellent water resistance and low water absorption. It has been shown that most oils, alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and household detergents do not affect polyvinyl chloride. The coating also resists attacks from oxygen and ozone. The fabric is designed to resist the transfer of most types of indigo dye.
  • To clean all Textilene® Brand Fabric, sponge with a solution of one cup of mild detergent with one cup of household bleach in three gallons of water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and air-dry completely. Treat all stains as soon as possible.

I used your recommendation for white Textilene mesh lounge chairs with walnut stains. I really didn’t have luck with bleach. I did have luck with lemon, baking soda & dish soap after many applications. It is still visible in some spots. Do u recommend leaving it alone & it will fade?

I purchased chaise lounges with textilene covers - they have mildew stains after only 4 months outside. This is not an appropriate fabric for Florida even though we checked with the chaise manufacturer with concern prior to purchasing.

I had 20 pieces of outdoor furniture reslung in the Twitchell Textilene 2x2 white mesh. I had spoken to a Twitchell rep before selecting the mesh and was assured this 2x2 white mesh was low maintenance.

Unfortunately after 4 months, the mesh has stains despite rinsing off each week. I used a mild detergent, bleach and water as directed TWICE and there are still stains. The furniture is rarely used and sits outside in an open area, not near trees, leaves etc.

The original Brown Jordan furniture mesh for over 10 years with just a rinsing. The furniture repair company who ordered the Twitchell Textilene mesh and reslung the furniture has no answers. The owners says this should not happen. We are very disappointed in this product and would not recommend.
